I have a 56 dropped 3 inches in the front. I am installing a 5.3L, and I've been researching all options for the oil pan. No one seems to be modifying these pans and you can't use them for a core exchange. I bought the Milodon pan made for 55-57 LS swaps...I love it! 7qts and it is not lower than my crossmember! It did cost a little though.

Welcome to Tri-five. Post a link to the pictures of the pan.
Also post pictures of the motor in the car here http://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31124. If you get a chance.

My question is if it gets in the way of exhaust.

I don't see why it would?
Redleg what year is that 5.3L? It appears to be a Gen IV. Seen the side of the block mounted knock sensors.

Thanks guys, the engine and tranny are out of a 2008 Silverado. 6K on it. I'm expecting my S&P headers today or tomorrow the ones bent for a 605 box. But I think I have plenty of room. I'll post pics soon!

Are you able to retain the stock oil filter location or do you have to use a remote oil filter?

I'll have to run a remote filter, but with a car this low I'll be glad to have the filter up where I can get to it easier! The Milodon pan comes with the block off plate complete with fittings. I didn't buy their remote filter kit...a little pricey. Oh yeah, you need to purchase their shortened pickup also to clear the sump. When your car is lowered the options are fewer.

You can tell by looking under the intake manifold It'll have hook ups for the AFM manifold. Regular Gen IV 5.3L have nothing under the intake (as they moved the Knock sensor to the side of the block)
