Please help, I'm a 1st grader in engine rebuilding. I'm re-plumbing a 1970 350 after installing a Vintage Air A/C Compressor, Griffen Radiator and Edelbrock Water Pump. My intake manifold has two ports toward the front of the block, one on each side, one has the heater hose attached, and one has the temp gauge sensor attached. My new Edelbrock Waterpump has a hole on the top for something, and I currently have a plug in it.(the old Chevy waterpump had no hole on the top). So my question is:
Can I plug my heater hose into any three of these holes, either two in the intake manifold or the one in the top of the waterpump? My alternator attached to the new Vintage Bracket is in the way of the driver's side port where the hose is currently attached, so I'm hoping I can use another hole, either the one on the passenger side of the intake manifold or the one on the top of the water pump. Thank is advance for your help!!! Last edited by petealan; 02-02-2010 at 07:25 PM.. Reason: Make more clear |

Yes,use either one,as long as the other heater hose goes back to the radiator.
Both hoses in the water pump and intake won't work. Mike. ![]()

I think the port on top of the water pump is an INLET, not an outlet. It pulls water out of the top of the manifold and circulates it back through the engine.

You're right-I was wrong Chevynut!
The one on top of the pump is suction! Mike. ![]()

one hose in the pump (suction) and one end of the hose in the intake.
