Default Global Warming/Energy conservation

I know just about everyone of us has either heard or seen a topic about Global Warming and Energy Conservation. I am curious though if all of this is such a big thing then why is there not more being done by the government/governments of this country (USA).

Some of the points i am curious about are as follows.

1 If things are as bad as the experts say, then why do we not have more incentives for the American family to be more of a Green style family to stay politically correct

A. power companies offering low cost loans or efficiency upgrades to home owners. I know this was something that was offered in my State before the local power company was bought out by a power conglomerit.

B. why are local and federal governments not offering incentives to use wind power or solar devices for home owners. the only ones who get these breaks are big companies.

C. why are there not better incentives for the purchase of a automobile that lets just say for example get 30-35 miles per gallon or better.

D. many of you will probably get a chuckle out of this but why are there not vouchers or a tax exemption of bicycles that are used as a way of transportation. Even make them tax free such as gun safes.

These are just a few examples and i know there are other thing s that can be added to this list of items. But i just find it odd that the people (Citizens) of this country that the government wants to conserve energy are the same ones that are not offered the incentives for energy conservation.

Very good questions Marty..
One other I might add is how about giving incentives to people having less children? They give tax breaks for those with children. Obviously the lower the population, the less consumption of the worlds resources....

I'm tired of people wanting to spend MY tax money on these things, and a lot of others.

If you feel strongly about these things, spend your own money on it.

Without children who would look after all the old and run this place down the track, it's all a pretty important cycle. I don't know how it works in the states but i reckon they should cut the incentives on people who couldn't be stuffed working and keep popping out kids!
I was told over there you guys are gonna start running your cars on corn in a few years?

56-210, actually I don't know how you spend your money. But if you want a tax paid handout, I won't be willing to pay for it. And I'll do my best to fire a politician that's in favor of them.

If your state or locality taxes bicycles, you need to move. IMO the best tax break is one where there are no taxes levied, and no tax credits either.

And as for the breaks to big business, I'm not in favor of those either. Shifting the wrongs don't make things right.

Guys this thread is getting really close to politics, and we don't talk about religion and politics on this forum so everybody can stay frineds and not lose focus on the cars.

I agree Otis. This is a topic that is dangerous. It has its sides and usually draws VERY heated converstions. I will stay away from this topic since my opinions on this are incredibly strong.
