Wasn't sure where to ask this, but here goes:
My dad and I will be towing my 56 Bel Air from TX to GA and stopping in New Orleans for 2 nights along the way. We'll be driving a 10-14ft u-haul with the trailer on the back. Considering how small the streets are downtown, and the security concerns, I'm trying to find a hotel with secure, concealed, patrolled parking. I've only been once but know the selection is slim. We are willing to stay further away from downtown for a nice, fenced in or covered parking that would be easier to get into than, say, a parking garage with 7ft height clearance. Any suggestions or specific hotels would be greatly appreciated. |

Have you talked to U-Haul about storing it, while in N.O. http://www.uhaul.com/Storage/

Check out the Hampton INN on St Charles AVE in the garden district, free fenced secured parking, nice area plus you can catch the street car to downtown from there or a cab for less than $10. Call ahead to make sure they will allow your trailer, some might say a safe secured place in NO is a oxymoron.
Have fun! |

"some might say a safe secured place in NO is a oxymoron."
I'd say that's very close to true. If the suggestions don't work out, stay in Laplace on the west side (about 25 miles), or in Slidell or just across the Mississippi line (northeast side, about the same). |

Have you got any friends in N.O. Probably better to ask to store it in their Garage for the time of your stay.
