my '56 has a 283 and the aluminum bracket that came on the car bolted on with two bolts in the block. just my luck, both bolts broke off in the block. anybody know of a bracket that doesn't bolt into those two holes? i realize there are a lot of unknowns here but it's going to be a nightmare getting those two bolts out.

Dave....I'll put this thread in the power steering section for 'ya, where Jalapeno should see it.
I assume the two holes that you are referring to are the ones that originally were used to bolt the front motor mount on. If memory serves me. I believe the mid-60's full size and Chevelles used a bracket that bolted in a different manner....On some of the smal block 283 & 327's the holes were not drilled/tapped on the passenger's side of the engine.

Dave, you're SOL on most brackets. I'm not familiar with the ones David wrote about. And USA1's brackets also bolt to the front.
Looks like it's time to drill out the old bolts.

I have a 65 fullsize Chevy,a 67 fullsize Chevy,and a 68,C-10.all mount to the block where tri-fives have the front motor mount.
I have a 70,C-10.The lower pump bracket mounts off the long water pump.69 was the first year for the long water pumps.Except for Corvettes. I would drill out and tap the holes.Gonna be tight in there! Mike. ![]()
