Definitly check out the above post. A CCI member with a great restored '57 Nomad has one of these batteries, looks all orig, but has "optima" gel technology inside--not cheap but orig looking with no points deduction in judging, but always starts.

http://www.348-409.com/images/misc127.jpg this may help ,it looks to me like the battery is plain on the front (no white or yellow lettering) or it would have showed up in this pic ---- i know the 55 battery had rasied lettering but it was not painted just plain black

`It appears in this photo that the front of the battery is plain black with no white lettering. Maybe others had the lettering? Interesting that the tires were blackwall.

you can find original magazine ads with the delco name in yellow or white in 55 and 56 ,,,but that was just so the name would show up in print ,as far as it goes that real world battery was just black with raised lettering,,,now some people sell the yellow decal and fake tar top cover so you can make a newer battery look close ,but the repros are dead on to the original ones if thats the way you want to go ---

I do not recomend buying one from Danchuks. I orderd one and when it arrived it looked like a piece of junk. The top was all banged up it looked terrable. I sent it back, and yes I had to pay the shipping cost back to them and they sent me another one. It looked worse than the first one. again I had to pay the shipping cost back to them. I told them I would never buy anything from them again.
