Hi,
I'm new to the forum, and I don't even have any classic car yet. Up until half an hour ago I thought I was mad about the 56 Bel Air Nomad, but now there is a new car "on my radar" that I know nothing about. The thing is, I love the look of the Nomad, but: - I think I would prefer a 4-door; - the sedans have an angle or dip in the beltline which really adds to the look of the profile; it's a shame the wagons don't have this. I just came across an image of a 57 Buick Estate Wagon in a brochure, and it seems to fit the bill! It has four doors, the beltline dip, and also rounded corner windows (although the other way around compared to the Bel Air wagons). Does anyone know if these cars are still around? Does anyone know if the price is same, half, or double of a Bel Air? I know you'll tell me to google -- and I will, trust me! -- but I believe there is a lot of enthusiast information stored away in forum member's brains! ![]() Best regards,

Hi
Here is a forum for Buick, where you can get a lot of information. http://www.buickclub.org/ http://forums.aaca.org/ubbthreads.php?Cat=0 Last edited by Sweden; 07-24-2007 at 07:55 AM.. |

Sweden, don't you ever sleep (or have to be somewhere else than in this forum)? :p
Thanks for your links, I will look into it. Now that I've gotten to know you lot, the Buick community has quite a lot to live up to! Also, I wonder if they are so well endowned with parts makers. I would not be surprised that my best shot at living my dream is to live with the 2-door design and stay right here!

The Oldsmobile Fiesta wagon was the same platform. They made the '57 Nomad look obselete, which was another reason for poor '57 Nomad/Safari sales.

Don't fail to cast an eye on the '50s estates with wood on them.

That Buick wagon is a good looking car. Saw one on My Classic Car awhile back.

They are very, very nice indeed.
However, they appear to be over double the price of a Nomad. Unfortunately, that means it's way out of my league (so don't expect any more news from me on this front). I'm now aiming solidly for a 56 Nomad, although that too will be several years into the future.

That Buick is a nice car. Look up the 55' 56' Pontiac Safari wagons too. They have their version of the Nomad also.
Also buying a Nomad or other mid-fives you can still get parts. |
