hey guys! i removed my rear seats in the belair today and pulled the carpet too from the rear, i clean up the whole floor area but i was wondering what do y'all use to sand it down and get rid of the surface rust? can u also use this on the exterior to get rid of surface rust? also what should i put on it after its been sanded down? rhino-line? paint?
also if someone could link or give me some instructions on how to remove the front seat that would be great. I'm not sure how to and i want to pull it up so i can clean under it and make sure there's no rust and sand it down and paint/rhino-line? it. |

good question,...
I'm thinking of the same thing after I patch up some small holes first.. I think using a side grinder with a steel wire brush to remove the rust, then I'm gonna cover it well with POR15....I will also do the same to the bottom of the car.. I'd also like to hear other options as well. |

I did mine a few years back and used a wire wheel and applyed POR 15 and that did a great job.

I use a wire brush or sandpaper to get the loose particles off, and then use POR-15. It works better if you leave the surface rust there. The front seat bolts in from the topside...2 in front of the sliders and 2 in the back on each side.

Had to go to the local auto paint store to get mine......Can be applied with a cheap spray gun or sponge brush.....Here is some more info on the product:
