OK I'll finally admit defeat. The trunk latch on my 55 doesn't work worth beans. Latch and plate look like they are in good shape. No matter how high or low I adjust the latch plate it doesn't want to close properly (have to repeatedly atempt to close it before it finally decides to stay latched). I'm sure someone has a trick that has worked. Help, please with this simple problem for everyone but me

Be sure the latch mech. in the trunk lid is clear and lubricated. I've found that most of them are filled with crud. The spring can't rotate the cam the the return lock position.

I also had a customer's '55 that was having trunk latch trouble. The screws for his lic. bracket were too long and binding the latch. just another idea.
