I would like to lower the front of my 55 a couple of inches. I have found a couple ways. Shorter springs or the 2 inch drop spindles. Great price difference in between the two. Does anyone have experience with both? Pros n cons of each.
Thanks, Nate |

lowering springs are definitely cheaper, but you lose some of your ride quality. I went with new full height springs, and drop spindles. The 2" drop spindles also lower your front center of gravity, so your handling improves. I'd say it depends on how original you want to keep it, compared with how much you want to drive it. John

thanks! Its actually completely origional and I would like to keep it at close as possible. So I will probably just use the springs since I dont actually drive it that much.
Thanks again, Nate |

use spindles or burn off the edges of your tires with springs sounds simple

If you still have the original drum brakes you will have to do springs! Noone makes drop spindles for the drums!!! You can do 2 in drop springs and a front end alignment shop can get it right!!! Before you buy new springs, just cut ONE full coil off. I did that once and it drove and rode BETTER! The factory front end is so BOUNCY anyway! It's worth a try before you spend the money. If you don't like it just buy new ones anyway!!!! I used a 4 in electric grinder to cut mine. Everyone else recommends to NOT cut more than one coil because it will ride rough!

My combo:
New spindles.. Heidts Stock springs. Fatman uppers. These are modified dimensionally, to allow for proper camber, and 3-4* positive caster... Something you won't get w/ stock parts, and chopped springs.
