I am having a problem with a stock rebuilt carter WCFB carb. When the engine is cold the choke wont set. I have adjusted the choke till I'm exhausted. It has no effect. When I remove the air cleaner and manualy set the choke butterfly I hear a loud click and then the choke snaps closed under the pressure of the choke housing spring and sets the high idle. once warm the choke opens. Then on the next cold start up I have the same problem. The linkage is all brand new, clean and not binding anywhere.
I have disassembled the choke housing. The butterfly is free and not binding. The choke housing lever is working perfectly on the bench. I cleaned the choke housing, removed the plug and piston and lightly honed the cylinder, still no help. I swapped the choke housing for my spare and still no help. I'm wondering if it is a binding condition when the choke housing is mounted to the carb body. Anyone have any suggestions....anyone...Bueller,Bueller? |
