I just purchased a 1955 hardtop but has no vin plate everything is legal vin on frame matches title and tags match papers from 1972 is there any way to legally obtain a vin plate to put back on my car thanks bob

Bob, most states will issue a new vin tag. It won't however look like an original. But your sort of between a rock and a hard spot.
