I bought my '56 Chevy in September of 2005. I found it on line over in Conneticut. I got it home and started looking it over and disassemblingfor the overhaul. It was a rolling chassis with no driveline or interior. Checking out the numbers I found that it was built in Tarrytown, it was a 6 cylinder automatic, 210 2 door sedan, original colors gray and white(ivory). After disassembly I found that I had rotten areas in the frame. I ordered the inboard spring kit figuring that the boxes for the front mounts would help reinforce the frame wher I needed to repair. I found a 1/2 a waste basket of mouse nest inside of the right rail and the bottom of the rail from the front hanger forward was all soft. I replaced the metal on the bottom for about 6 feet forward and an inch and a half up the sides. Then I started on the rear corners. I ended up replacing the rear crossmember and then building both rear corners to support th new shackle mounts. The bottoms of the rail on both sides was soft up into the rear axle kickup area. The first thing I had put in was the new rear shock upper mout to help to hold the frame in shape while doing the rest of this repair. The front end was overhauled and a power disc brake set was installed . I painted the frame with black Rust-o-leum and then started reassembling everything on the frame. I've installed a sway bar on the front and all new brake lines. I have the parts for the rear brakes but have not tackled that yet. I set the body back on the chassis so I will be able to brace it up for the floor replacements.
