What kind of opener?

What kind of opener do you have? Did you happen to put LED bulbs into the openers bulb socket? Many relatively modern openers, particularly ones made by Chamberlain, are very intolerant of LED and...

Maybe the old time sports car racers would remember?

I wonder if you could try to contact some of the old time sports car racers, through one of the tracks? One racer that I know of that was in the thick of things at that time was Auggie Pabst. Up...

Not crazy about the JD race converted posi

Look at this thread from about 3 1/2 years ago to see some details of the JD race converted posi for the early Olds/Pontiac:

Keep them together

The Ring, Planet and Sun gears should always be kept together. This holds true for any automatic, not just the 700. They do "wear in" together, similar to (but not quite as pronounced) other gear...

.ipt is ok

I just looked at the "how to" in Fusion 360, and yes, .ipt is supported just fine. If you want to send me a partial file of your progress so far, I would be interested to see it, just to get an idea...

I can at least look at it

I have a 3 axis Bridgeport CNC. I am just starting to experiment with Fusion360 by Autodesk. If you can share the Model with me, I will see if I can import into Fusion, and generate a part program....

Yes, then walk away

Yes, if he is playing that fools game of "I can't give you a price, just make me an offer" then walk away from it. 99% of the time, the "make me an offer" folks actually know what they want for...

Depends on the price

Did the seller ever give you a price that he will sell the whole lot for? If the 3.42 is a good ratio for you, you could always sell the 5.13 spool center section to an 1/8 mile drag racer. That...

You will probably need new axles

Attached is a spare axle shaft that I have out of a 63 Pontiac Grand Prix. It should have the same spline configuration as your 59 axle, which is also 31 spline. As you can see from the spline wear...

I have done a lot of work with pumping and handling flammable liquids. Your return line should be shaped so that it exits against the inner side wall of the tank, so that the return fuel can run...

It's a newer "P" center for sure

Yes, even through the grime, I can see the raised "P" that shows it is an original posi center section. Yours would be 57 and newer, as posi did not yet exist until part way into the 57 model year. ...

Look in front

Look at the front side of your removable gear carrier, on the drivers side. See the circled area in the attached photo for reference. You should see a 7 digit casting number something like 8725899....

Right on about 3rd member being newer

Joe is right on about the center section already being a newer design. If it is already 3:08 on a posi unit, all you need to do is to swap the ring and pinion to a 3.73 set like this one:

Vacuum switch is so so

I still have the vacuum switch, but don't think that it is adequate. It should be a "window" switch that opens at, say 6 inches of vacuum, and then re-closes at 10 or 11 inches of vacuum. Right...

Square up that plug

If that plug has been rounded off, the best thing to do if you have a Dremel is to take the cut off wheel adapter and mount two cutoff wheels, to give you a little more grinding area, and support so...
