I have a 56 grocery getter project i have been working on that like may cars has some rust damage. The passenger side seems to be worse. Meaning floor and rockers need some new metal. Both front floor patches are in now. In stripping paint i keep finding holes filled with bondo. Who ever pained it last is probably out of bondo or was after he pained it.. I have a question. I need to replace a good bit of rockers(in/out) and like the rest i am learning as i go. Thinking i am leaving the front area where fender mounts and upper area around door/seal front pillar. Other than that how do the repops fit usually? Should i only cut out what i have to and put in patches or use most of it? I replaced the front inner to back side of 1st body support (under front seat mount) when i did the front floor and fixed the support. I am to a point i have all this new metal and don't want to tie it to old rusty outer that needs some work? Any advice for a rookie about to dive in with the cutting wheel?

Yeah i put in passenger side full inner, outer, some floor braces and floor patches last weekend. I found an article from "Super Chevy" that explained the process on a 4 door sedan and dove in. They did fit good w a lil convincing. I'm waiting on a patch panel for inner dogleg of C pillar and a floor brace i thought was ok now i ordered Monday. Should be here tomorrow so i can finish this weekend. Few things surprised me doing it. It took wayyy longer than i would have ever guessed. Drilling spot welds takes a while when you can't really tell where they are. Thought i would never get the old one loose especially from B pillar.. Just how much dirt, debris, and bondo fell out of the rocker and floor braces was pretty shocking when i swept it all up. Seems like i have found that most everywhere I am having to replace rust damage.
