Hotrod,

Thanks, you were absolutely correct, it is in fact an older (obsolete) Gen3 system. VA tech support has confirmed that parts are still available.

I am going to try to to bring it back to life.

PS I may take you up on the hose end offer...I'll let you know. Turns out a local friend of a friend supposedly has access to an assortment of AC maintenance tools, including a hose crimper and manifold gauges.

be cautious on the crimping. many people have a hose crimper that is incorrect for bead-lock hose and fittings.

Looks to be a knock off of the Va system and cost more.

I'll still say Vintage Air is the best system. I found the install in my 56 210 to go smoothly, and relatively quickly. I have it in my 56, my 66 Chevelle, my 71 pickup......had it in my 56 Studebaker, and plan to put it in my son-in-law's 67 Chevelle.

Old air gets my vote. Put a complete system in my 57 Chevy pickup. Drove it around here for a year, then a trip to San Antonio, Tex. Worked great zero troubles. Im now putting a system in my 56 210. But, with the twin turbos, there are some custom pieces under the hood. SO, I bought the just under dash kit. Pretty easy to install. My compressor is mounted, andI think a condenser compatible for a 72 Nova is gonna fit just fine. The hoses will hafta be custom. Not a problem.

I also had an Old Air system in a '56 big window pickup. It came with the truck, but had not been installed correctly or charged. It was missing a couple of pieces, and O/A was helpful to supply. I 'reinstalled' it, charged it and had no complaint about it's performance. I have recommended them in the past; but I don't like the way it hangs. They use the same evaporator case for most every application - not a criticism, just the way they do it. I'll be using a V/A in the Nomad for that reason. I've also got a V/A in my '38 that works just fine, and another going into my '65 C-10.

When it's time for a new owner you don't have to tell the prospective buyer that "It's just as good as Vintage Air" if that is what is installed

No, only the delux, there's not enough knobs on the base (recirculating) control. https://www.trifive.com/garage/55%20...nual/101-6.gif
