Default Detroit Torch setup

Has anybody used a Detroit Torch system?

https://detroittorch.com/

Saw it demo'd at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale last year and was really impressed. He brazed 2 pieces of 20-22 gauge sheet metal with regular TIG rod and didn't warp at all with really nice beads; wouldn't need much grinding at all.

Now he was a professional and I haven't brazed in years, but again, it was impressive.

Had one 25yrs ago, when it was called something else.
Gave it away....
Save your money, and put it toward a plasma cutter.

Looks a lot like the old Henrob torch. I think it's had another name in between.

Used to see demo's at swap meets and shows. The demo's make it look better than it really is IMO.

these have been around for years, dillon/ henrob/ cobra are a few names. i was given one ages ago and for hammerwelding thin sheetmetal they are ok but i prefer using a standard long handpiece with a #6 tip which uses about the same amount of gas. this style puts your hand closer to the heat & when doing long welds your hand gets too hot. for the price of it you can buy a couple of plasma cutters which will cut way better with less heat.

Thanks guys. I already have a Hypertherm plasma. I was intrigued with the brazing. Maybe I'll dust off my long handle tips and give it a try again!
