I'm just looking to "clean up" the firewall a little bit. It's a little weathered in appearance and a quick coat of something.

So far, best I've found is $27 for a can of paint and $11 for shipping. That seems a little "off" to me.

I'll start checking local shops. (I've tried in the past and come up with nothing - but that was a different location. Maybe this location will yield better results)

If you have access to a spray gun and compressor I would go to an auto body shop and get some single stage paint matched.

Wish I was THAT talented. I have another car I need to paint. Sadly, I'm at the mercy of others for this...

Just found a local paint supply shop. $28.57 for a custom mixed can. But you have to be there in person for them to mix it. Trust issues?

I wanted to paint my door jambs. Initially went with paintscratch.com. Not even close to skyline blue. Then I found myperfectcolor.com. Sent them a door hinge strap and it was indeed a perfect match in gloss lacquer. Yes, pricey for a few cans of spray point but for me, well worth it. The more you buy, the cheaper and of course the matching is a one time charge.

I went to the local PPG store and had them match the color on my 57 when I detailed the engine compartment last year. I paid $22 for a spray can of color matched paint. I think it made the whole car look better to have a nice engine compartment. I painted the firewall with the red color matched paint. I also painted the inner fenders, bottom of hood, hood hinges, rerouted wiring, polished chrome and aluminum engine parts, etc. to make the car look nice. It only took me about a week to do all of this, but that was me working all day everyday on it. To me, its actually kinda fun to see a car look change, by just detailing it.

Concur! Very nice... However, I can't go too far down that rabbit hole. It will never be done otherwise.

I did find a local shop that mixed it for us, also got some good clear and got some custom mixed touch up to boot! Good price and about 3 minutes away!
