I don't like the awards. Most of the award have gone to deep pocket
guys, not the regular joe that has struggled and saved to make his or her car the best it can be. My car is my first car (1964), it is by no means a $100,000 car, but money can't buy it. I would like for them to recognize the person that drove their car the longest distant to get there, and maybe the person who has owned their tri-five the longest.

I totally agree Mighty -5 ...

PS. if the *special* cars are not parked with the 'regular' cars, then I don't even bother going to find/look at them. Those fellas are not at the event for the same reasons most of us are...

and re the Thursday night 'event' at the Hotel; yes it was spontaneous the first year, and since then the organizers have put on some 'special displays', which I have enjoyed (and also to get out of the heat).

Just my speculation, but I suspect the reason the 'Thursday'was MOVED to Beech Bend Park is that I believe the 'park' is rented by the weekend, and they had to pay separately for the Sloan center... Now they WON"T have to put those dollars out. WE can still keep the show as it has been, just arrive on Thursday, congregate at the Holiday Inn as before (No Sloan center display!) and go to the show at Beech Bend on Friday and Saturday. Let the golf cart boys have the park on Thursday all to themselves?

Hi. Pop, What was your problem with your stop in Troy, Al ? I have lived here since 1967. If I remember correctly, last year you were looking for a way to get to the Nats. without having to go through Atlanta. I suggested a route that would have brought you through Troy so you must have used it. Don't know what you found to your dislike. Sorry I tried to help.

I can't blame you in the least my friend....The route that that you recommended was a treat versus going through Atlanta...We would definitely go that way again....Troy actually seemed hotter than Bowling Green, as it didn't even cool down at night....No breeze at all....Didn't mean to sound ungrateful.

Just got an email from TFA with a link to the new souvenir company pushing the official 2019 signs. The usual $20 but plus another $8.95 to ship it to me. Because they evidently did not have them then or not enough of them at the show. No thanks. Guess that I didn't want it that bad after all.

Wow, I just read through this thread and I'm glad I did not go to Bowling Green even though I was planning to attend. I know how car shows are and have been involved with Goodguys for years as well the NSRA shows up until 2017 when I've had enough of the rip off scene at car shows. It truly is all about THE MONEY. They don't give two [email protected]#$% for the members or attendees. It sucks because I like car shows and meeting new people and fellow car enthusiasts, but I can't justify attending these anymore. Now I just settle for my local cars and coffee meetups.

You're making a mistake thinking that the nationals is something other than terrific. Its a great show and the only one of its kind for trifives. Stay home if you like. Instead, try attending next year's show and see for yourself. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Agreed....the positive aspect of the show far out weighs the negatives. It has been the best in my opinion for tri fives. I have to give credit to those who take the time, energy and dedication to pull it off. Sure, there is the who's who crowd and the high end winners , that is the society of people and human nature. I walk softly and quietly through life with a keen eye to grasp onto the things that make me happy ...... there are a lot of good car guys and gals that attend the Nats to meet and enjoy the time. It is a show to attend, perhaps with all the feedback some of the negative issues can be resolved.

I live 45 minutes from Beech Bend Park and been there several
times in my lifetime. Never been to tri five Nationals for some of
the reasons already mentioned, nor do I attend any other big
car show events for the same reason.
