The assembly manual shows one carburetor requiring an offset to mount the gas filter.

The carb mentioned is PN 3748134 which may be the 4GC, although the picture shows a WCFB.

This modification may be for air cleaner clearance. Note View B

A brass close nipple instead of the adapter with the wrench flats might bring the filter closer to the carb which might work.

The offset illustration is for AC only and has to do with the compressor interferring with the normal routing of the fuel line.

The fittings you have now are fine, the issue is you have a Rochester carb and the inlet with filter is different than the WCFB. The height of this area is different on the Rochester than the WCFB. So you have 3 options: Extra gaskets are the easiest. The second is to install an extension brass pipe so the fuel filter is forward from the air cleaner. The last option is to dimple the air cleaner bottom just enough to clear.

THE FUEL FILTER YOU HAVE IS THE LOW TOP 57 TYPE, IT WILL PROVIDE THE BEST CLEARANCE.

You make the call that is the easiest for YOU.

Default Air cleaner

If this ad happened on the factory floor they would just put the air cleaner on and wouldn't have noticed anything.
