Hi! My dad passed away about 5 years ago. He left this 57 with the family. It had close to no brakes on it, and the car had stock power brakes. I wanted to get some disks up front so the family could all enjoy it safely. It's stopping great now! It has Wilwoods up front, and new wheels and tires. I can't wait to drive it!
Really nice looking 57. You'll do your dad proud driving it around with the extra safety. Did you also install a dual master cylinder?
Thanks everyone, itís been a long journey to get it back on the road. It sat in my momís garage for years. This car needed to see the road again, but driving it felt like you were driving on ice. You had to plans stops way in advance, it just wasnít realistic to be on the road. I decided to leave the drums in the back, and install a new power brake setup with a dual master and Wilwood disks in front.
Mom toyed with selling the car, but we talked her out of it. We have space in the garage, so the plan is to keep it in the family for now. Outside of the new brakes, itís pretty stock. It has the stock powerglide, and 283 w/ Power Pack setup. Itís running decent, but it definitely needs some new fresh gas in it. Iíll get some more pictures up soon!
Great story preserving your Dads dream , I'm sorry for his loss , but you have something that truly was dear to him and trust me he is looking down or as said from the back seat smiling. The 57 convertible is a very iconic car , be proud of it and him . If you ever have to sell I think it will hurt . Keeping it in the family is a good choice. God Bless.
