All CPP products are guaranteed for life from date of purchase, to be free of defects in materials and workmanship. This guarantee is void in the event of misuse, neglect, improper installation or misdiagnosis. At our option, we will repair or replace any product found to be defective subject to our inspection and approval.
Warranty returns require the same procedures as above. All suspected defective item must be authorized prior to return; they must have a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number, the original invoice, a brief description of the problem (“defective” is not sufficient) and customer must prepay shipping. Parts that are disassembled, altered, modified, disfigured, or abused will not be covered by our warranty. This warranty does not cover reimbursement of labor costs or incidental damages (if any). There are no refunds on shipping costs, electrical parts, or special order merchandise.
This particular box was bought in 2014 and put on the frame. It did not get started until 2 weeks ago. The problem came up and I contacted them by phone. That is when I was told they only had a 5 year warranty, which was now 5 months past. I was told the $275.00 for repair + shipping. I asked about the "lifetime warranty" and he said that was not on the boxes.
I copied pages from their website and sent them in on the info email. I got that response from Taylor. I asked in a subsequent email about the supposed change affecting all prior purchases. He did not respond. I made two calls and he was not there for one, and did not respond the a second voicemail.
I am going to try to find out who is actually running this place. I used to deal with Aaron, but he is apparently not there anymore.
In the meantime, the box began working properly. Hopefully it was just something stuck inside that freed up.
Now it is more of a principle thing to figure out what all of us who USED to have a lifetime warranty now actually have.
Thought I would let you know what the CPP rep has decided on. This is his reply regarding the warranty on the steering boxes:
Taylor Lewis said
"Any boxes that were purchased while the lifetime warranty was still in effect would still be covered under that. Any boxes purchased after that would be covered under the 1 year or 4 year warranty going forward".
I asked "Ok, so my box bought in 2014 would be covered under lifetime warranty? What are you going to consider as the change date? The website still has lifetime on all parts".
"Yes, it would. I believe the changeover would be this year if I understand correctly".
Just passing along what Taylor clarified. Some of the problem I believe is some people there not knowing what the intent of the company is and just answering questions with not enough information instead of referring the issue to one who knows or has the authority to make the decisions.
