I'm pretty confident that all this is a product of the CAFE mileage standards. If they exceed their goals, they may offer the option, at least more clearly.

The price of a Suburban/Tahoe, or a pickup, is also reflective of those standards.

I don't see many Suburbans around here, it's either Tahoe or pickup. That's been since the 80s even (before Tahoes), except that Suburbans seem to have dwindled even more since then. They are just too expensive for what they are for most buyers. The advent of 1/2T crew cab pickups has accelerated that.

This dealer had 22 Suburban's in stock (all 5.3) and 17 Tahoe's in stock- 5 of the Tahoe's were 6.2, 10 speed.

I saw that article from April and mentioned that. The zone manager said maybe later in the year, maybe next year, or maybe never. I just thought it was weird.

Yep, strange that it is available on a Tahoe now, but not a Suburban! I guess the performance guys want it on the lighter Tahoe but not on the big battleship Suburban. The RST package is available on the SUB, but does not include the engine and trans like on the Tahoe.
Really not that much demand for a SUB unless you are hauling a bunch of kids. The Tahoe is lighter, more agile and will fit in smaller spaces, but still hauls about the same. The Sub is better for towing, as it has a longer wheelbase, but like Rick said, a lot of the traditional towing customers of the SUB, are now buying a crew cab pickup now instead.

I have a older Tahoe and it has been a great vehicle, but I would buy the 6.2L engine and 10 speed in a heartbeat, if I was buying a new one!

Is the 6.2L/10-speed only avail in RST model or can it be an upgrade in other Tahoe models?

Is there any truth to the rumor that GM is going to be putting the DuraMax in the 2019 Suburban/GMC Yukon XL? I could get very interested in one of those real quick.

Trucks and Suburban type vehicles are the most popular here in the USA.... the cost to build electric and hybrid cars is enormously expensive and manufacturers are required to sell a minimum of these to meet Fed regs....

They have all decided to jam the truck buyers to subsidize the manufacturing cost of the climate saving vehicles....

You can get it in any of the Tahoe line, LS, LT, Premier, etc.
