This was all new to us this year after we acquired the 56. I called my auto insurance agent, and well to say she was clueless when I asked about agreed value.
So I contacted our homeowners insurance lady. She is an agent for Hagerty. We talked, and I told her we wanted a agreed value policy. I had to send pictures of the outside and interior, but nothing under hood. And I did have an appraised value the PO had done.
So I get the quote in the mail, and thought, "that ain't bad." Just under $400 a year, with $40,000 agreed value... So I commenced reading over the details of the policy. Well they had it as "stock", but it's not, by a long shot.
So this time I called direct to Hagerty, and told them about the engine and trans being a 350 with 700R4, cause I don't/didn't want any issues if something happens, wanted to be honest...
So then they commence to be real polite about how that's going to be issue, and that'll raise the premium another $187, so now we're up to nearly $600 a year. See what honesty get's you.
I like everything that's included within the policy, but I also like getting the same coverage for less money, so sooner or later, I will be checking with another company.

I have had Hagerty for many years and a claim which was taken care of fast and easy. After reading this thread I pulled out my policy and so much of what has been stated here is not contained within my policy. The only restrictions in my policy are; no racing, not used for Hire, not covered for illegal uses and I must have another car for "regular" daily use. There are no mileage restrictions or when or where I can drive my '56. I have never checked with Grundy.

I Had Hagerty for years with a 327 and 700r4 and Cragars and they took pic when I had an interior claim. Was listed as stock and I even asked about the modifications a couple times and I was fine. Switched to Grundy this year and the save questions and got the same answer, its stock.

I think most company reps consider a small block stock as long as its not a big power tire shredder.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet.

There are two Grundy companies:

One is called Grundy Worldwide.

The other is called Grundy Insurance.

They are totally separate companies as far as I can tell. It's confusing as to why. I've never been able to find out what the story is. They even share the same font for the Grundy name. I have no idea if one is any better than the other.

I got my policy through Heritage Insurance Agency as many people on this forum have. They put me with Grundy Worldwide. I've had no issues at all and have 4 of my cars on a policy with them. They even allowed me to put my 2008 Corvette on the policy with Agreed Value. Didn't have to get an appraisal for any of them and no questions asked at all for what I requested for coverage values. No mileage limits.

I've had the policy now for about 7 years and only made one claim so far and that was for towing. They paid that promptly with no questions asked other than sending a copy of the receipt.

Not covered for illegal uses? So as long as you're not running moonshine, you're covered? ;-)

I have been happily insured through Grundy Worldwide for years. The actual policy states insurance company is Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Company, aka PHLY. Premiums are paid to Philadelphia Insurance Companies.

I have had two claims both of which were handled promptly and fairly by PHLY.
