Default 1955 convertible HELP

I found a convertible that I am interested in. I do not know too much about these cars. can someone please let me know what to look out for when I view it?

There are some common rust area`s in these cars, what you need to be aware of is this is an original convertible or one to look like a convertible.

I would start out by getting the owner to e-mail you lots of pictures, then post them so that we can better judge what you are considering buying.
There are many areas prone to rust on the Tri-Fives, floors, inner crown of front fenders, bottom of doors and fenders, inner and outer rocker panels, just forward of, and behind the rear wheel. The frame is also a major concern. Be sure to get photos of the underside of the car showing the frame and braces. Also, the inside of the trunk sheet metal stamping pattern is different on a real convertible.

There are some unscrupulous sellers trying to pass off a modified 2 or 4 door as a real convertible. Get photos of the VIN and engine compartment cowl tag. If you check it out further and it looks promising, it would be wise to hire an appraiser to look at it before purchasing.

Absolutely be sure to get photos of the trunk area to share as that makes it very easy to determine if it was actually a sedan conversion.

There are lots of convertible only pieces in the top well and trunk, as well as the windshield header among others.

Convertibles tend to leak water into the top well if parked and neglected - so this is the first area to check out for rust. A rust free convertible will have to have lived its whole life in indoor storage when not driven.

Not impossible to fix but a lot of work. Most of the parts are repro'd.
