OK people could you please give me your thoughts on Straight Pipe Exhaust all the way out the back? I have heard so much about the "DRONE" affect and would like to know is that caused strictly by what "MUFFLERS" you are using? If it is then if you just use nothing but Straight Pipe all the way out the back, would you at least get rid of the "DRONE" affect inside the car? Yes I have HEARD that it will be LOUD with just Straight Pipes out the back but would that get rid of the "DRONE" sound inside the car? I want to run Straight Pipes all the way out the back on my 55 Station Wagon just BECAUSE!! I have never built a car with them and it is time to, simple as that. Thanks for your responses....
To each, his own.
You won’t be able to carry on a conversation and probably end up w/ early hearing loss. Ask me how I know.
Straight pipe will just change at what frequency drone is prominent based on diam. of the pipe at total length.
Nothing is foolproof for a sufficiently talented fool.
Now that's what I'm talking about Hotrodhandyman!! Love the way your truck sounds and I like what you said, if I don't like it I can always put a muffler on. I won't know if I like it until I try it. Thank you guys for your input...
That purrs like a kitten compared to riding in my old neighbors truck that he put a Detroit Diesel (2 stroke) in with just some pipes. Even yelling loudly in the cab was pretty much useless.
I'd like to hear some of the higher pitched "crack" like you hear with open headers, but not as loud. I don't know if Cherry Bombs/glass packs give you that or not?
I found that an X pipe made my car drone and sound like crap. Took that all out. Running Dynamo Super Turbo's. They work but the pitch is still too low. Maybe I just need to remove the bung plugs for the A/F gauge in each collector?
