Here is a link to one on ebay that shows the casting number: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-1957-Ch...-/401108775936

That one shows the numbers on the ball side...But, I don't know if they are all that way or not.

The casting number has been on the top (ball) side on every GM arm I have seen. Not hard to get to in the car to see what you have.

Scary isn't the half of it. Lies, Deceit and Monetary Gain are the evils bestowed upon the public and at the public's expense. The scary part, how many are out there, undiscovered and unnotified, just waiting to fail with no notice at all.

When a Trifiver dies from this will it be then that the issues is revealed? Why is it that tragedy is required before a fix is done?

This email/notice is nothing but a feeble attempt by the supplier to cover their proverbial ass when it comes to a court case be it a wrongful death due to neglect or a simple class action suite. It's going to happen and it may be YOU. If their concern was legitimate, their Facebook page would have it plastered all over it, their ads in magazines would clearly define the issue and the severity of said issue - Do They - HELL NO: https://www.facebook.com/ClassicPerform/

I am a little confused here. I have updated my front end a few years back, but I really do not remember if I replaced the pitman arm. I went outside and crawled under the front of my 56 to see if I did. It looks like I did not replace the arm, cause I can see some numbers ( casting #'s ) and a GM symbol on the arm, does that mean it's the original part and I didn't replace it ?

For the life of me, I can't understand why they just don't design and manufacture them the same way as the original pitman arms. Welding is NOT the solution! Look at that one pitman arm, it snapped at the HAZ. I understand that CPP is not GM (thank God!), but come on, it ain't rocket science!!!

I looked at six pitman arms that I could get to, all bearing the cast number 3719487, all numbers on the bottom side. But then again I have 5 "CALIFORNIA" seemless frames also. Ha Ha.

Nick, further to your point, CPP didn't post anything on the other two trifive forums that I read. And as of about this time yesterday, there wasn't anything on their website either. (On the other hand, it could be there, it's hard to find anything on their website.)

No idea if they tried to contact anyone through their many resellers either. Hopefully they did.
