Got my new Iditit column and standard bracket . A few questions right off the bat . It appears you have to delete the very bottom/center firewall plastic rivet , Its right where the bracket goes ? Also , does the bracket go UNDER the column to firewall seal pad ? If you do this the seal Is away from the firewall and has a gap , letting heat/noise Into the cabin . Would It be better to bolt the bracket on top of the foam pad and sandwich It In place ? Is It necessary to bend the bracket to get the right angle , or should It bolt right In ? I know a lot of you guys have done this conversion , how did you guys do It ? Thanks for youre help guys .
There are numerous ways to skin this cat....On my last one, I took this bracket and added a couple of "ears" to it to keep the plate flush with the firewall....Here's a pic of the original and and in process shot of the modified one...There is a rubber backing on the bracket which gives a good seal.
I was hoping to keep the stock Insulator pad and ribbed rubber cover If at all possible , that's why I chose this little bracket . But even It has Issues for fitment . No one tells you that when purchasing .
