Yeah I agree with That.

Just having EFI and A/C would be way better than PS at this point, then can swap box when motor is out. The A/C you'll be able to enjoy the car this summer and EFI will make it like a whole new car. Drive it and plan for your swap.

One possibility would be to use a strong 4-speed tranny and Hurst, and adapt the new motor to it. It'd be cheaper to do the swap, and you know the tranny will fit with no interference.

And that's where the specific BBC bellhousing is used. That, or a special LS-to-Muncie trans adaptor will work. Also, a hydraulic clutch is necessary, but you would've needed that for the T56 anyway.

If you needed freeway gears, one way would be to replace the Muncie with a Super T10 4-speed w/3.42 first gear. Then swap in a 3.08 into your original rear end.

Auto Gear has a Muncie design with I believe a 2.92 first gear m22 straight cut gears I bought one as a kit around 17-1800$ but that was a few years ago it was a very nice piece Italian made gears that m22 whine although not as pronounced as a original m22 that box would work real well with 336 or 308 gears to keep rpm within cruising range
