Clears the headers by a mile , and I think just barely clears the ring gear by maybe 1/8" peeking throught that little hole at the bottom . What do you guys think ? Kind of funky looking but I think It may work . That Ansen cover looks tits on there .
I would definitely modify the stock metal one and bolt it on.

The old CAST steel and CAST aluminum scattershields are NO LONGER legal, but they still make for added protection on the street. I had an aluminum Ansen, and a cast steel Ansen, along with a cast steel, RC Industries scattershield. The aluminum is considerably thicker. I sold the aluminum and RC scattershiels, and the plan is to use the cast steel on my Delivery, although I also have a new Lakewood, so it's a toss-up. The best course of action as I see it, is to sell your aluminum Ansen, and go with a hydroformed steel one (NOT one with the 3 piece construction). Plus, you'll get a block plate; something your currfent Ansen does't have. E-Bay will probably have the best deal for a new one, or a used one. Start out at $600.00 for your Ansen, but don't take less than $500.00. My aluminum Ansen had a chromed cover, and was probably close to 55 years old, and the chrome was lifting/rusting in a couple areas. I told the buyer this (online sale), but he P and M'd about it after it arrived; he also wanted $100.00 "restitution". To make him happy, shut him up, and not get trashed online by him, that's what I did; still made money, because after the restitution, I had doubled what I originally paid for it. I hope he's on this site and reads this; he'll recognize himself. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Yea, at one time the Ansen, RC and other cast steel two piece bellhousings were approved for NHRA competition. Then they were not. I donít personally know why the approval was pulled. Even the Lakewood two piece steel bellhousings were outlawed for competition. But no issue running them on the street, and frankly, fine for a little bracket racing unless you are running big power, big slicks, big everything, lol. Then you should get a regular steel bellhousings.

My 67 Camaro has a two piece Lakewood, I don't care what the girlie men at the NHRA think. They shaft the little guy to finance big dollars for contingency $$$ for pros. Any of the above are better than factory stuff.
