Default Horn Relay Wiring Question

I purchased a Delco horn relay for my 56 Belair. It has 3 terminals labeled 1,3 and 5. However the factory wiring schematic shows the relay terminals as A, B and C. My new wiring harness has a red, a black and green wire for the relay. So which wires go on which terminal? Help! Thanks very much.

A is black, B is red, and C is green. https://www.trifive.com/garage/56%20...nual/12-31.gif

I would probably assume that 1 = A, 3 = B and 5 = C just to see if that would work.

Are you sure you have a horn relay? It might not matter since a relay is a relay but I'v never heard of one with terminals numbered 1, 3 and 5. Most automotive OE horn relays have three terrminals, S (switch), B (battery) and H (horn). Current standard labeling is 30 (B or hot wire), 86 (S or horn button) and 87 (H or horn).

Use a ohmmeter and find which two of the terminals show a direct connection. When you have found those two, the other one should be the black wire connection that goes to the horns. The two that show an internal connection can actually be interchanged - one red and the other green.

Sorry, but you can't interchange B and S on a 3 terminal relay. B goes to both the coil and hot contact. S is the only terminal you can ground to make it work.
You have to connect 30 and 85 on a 4 or 5 terminal universal automotive relay. Current model horn relays have 4 pins.
There are horn relays with 1,3,5 terminals. Furd uses different nomenclature, but what do you expect frum furd.
