Default Cleaning up castings cast iron

On a set of ram horn exhaust manifolds like the one pictured there are casting blocks and bumps, would there be any risk to cleaning them up/removing them prior to coating them? Is there any function or risk of grinding through to the exhaust port by doing this?

Im looking to remove the bumps and external blocks from an original set, I’m not worried about serial numbers part numbers etc. just looking for a cleaner look. I like what you did to yours, Don
not exactly a headers look, but not stock either. Thanks for the picture and reassurance.

There is a lot of meat to them. If you just want to remove some casting seams and dates and texture you will not harm them in any way.

I plan on doing some of the same stuff before I have a set ceramic coated.
