Default Mystery Part

Hey all,

Here is a part that I found while searching for pieces to put back on the car and I cannot remember where this part is used. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I have some brackets that are used to hold the fin trim on, but I cannot find the installation in the assembly manual. Does anybody know where I can find the installation procedures for these parts as well?

First part is not an OEM part of any 55-57 I have ever seen.

Second photo is the retainers for the tail fin. More important on the RH but used on both. The narrow side is up. There should be 2 holes on the end of the fin for the 2 screws. The upset in the middle is so the retainer will fit over the pinchwelded flange that is the high center of the fin end. When you install the fin cap stainless you slid the wider part of the trim over the clip, as you push the stainless downward. The retainer clip holds the trim tight to the body.

Thanks Michael, the first part was one that I removed from the car "somewhere". Hopefully somebody can lead me toward the location of it..... ;-)

I blew this up so it may be a little fuzzy. My son Patrick’s project as we got it. You can see the clip in this photo.

Here is the gas tank side but no laughing, yes, That is me at 17 summer of 1978 stripping the paint off my car for its red paint job. If you can believe it, this is the only photo I have of the clip on the gas tank side.

THANKS!! This picture cleared up another part I was wondering about as well. (The trapezoidal plate over the fin hole).
