HELLO ALL. NOW DON'T YOU HIGH HP GUYS LAUGH AT THIS. I'VE GOT A 235 INLINE 6 THAT I AM PUTTING DUAL CARBS ON AND SPLIT HEADERS. I'VE SEEN THESE SET UPS THAT THE HEADERS AND INTAKE ARE PAINTED GRAY AND WHITE.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE PAINTING THESE WITH? IS IT SPRAY ON RATTLE CAN STUFF IS IT BRUSH ON? DOES THIS STUFF HOLD UP TO THE HEAT?
ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE HELPFUL.THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR INPUT.
Are you sure that what you're seeing is paint? If you're using Fenton manifolds most exhausts come in black and the intakes in natural color. There's little reason to paint either, but the choice is yours. There are any number of high temperature paints that supposedly hold up to 1000 degrees.
I think the unpainted looks is just fine.
When in danger, when in doubt.
Run in circles, scream and shout.
Use VHT's Ceramic Brake Caliper paint in silver for the intake.
You have to get it clean though. Scrubbing it with ScotchBrite and lacquer thinner, then wiping it down with Prep Sol will have it prepped very well. The silver caliper paint looks EXACTLY like the cast aluminum and it will not take a stain and cleans up with soap and water.
For the exhaust your BEST bet is to get it JetHot coated. It will last forever and you will never have to touch it up as you would with spray on paint that will burn off.
