Hey Rojer1 that looks nice. what did you end up using for your rods?

round stock or thick wall tubing? yours looks just a little different than the one
I'm making. Did you use regular wheel studs or did you make them. my thought was to buy 3 long threaded wheel studs and weld them on back side.

Sorry I should have stated. It is an original.
I just used Dorman studs. They were plenty long. I don't recall the number on the Dormans but they were longer than stock studs.

Well I'm prepping for the spare tire carrier. No steel yet so I drew a templet out of ply wood traced the od of my tire and located bolt hole pattern on it.

my tires are 15 x 235 x75R 15 's. just holding the temp let up its going to be a very very snug fit. does any body know what the max tire size you can fit on the bracket ? I measured the back space on the rim to tire and the way I figure it I will need 4 1/2" back from the tire mount plate to the fender just to get it to clear.

I have seen no measurement from how far from side of bed out to the mounting plate. I'm thinking I may have to add a little length to achive mounting this size tire.

any body with side mounts what size tires are you mounting?

HERE IS THE LIST OF MATERIAL USED:

ONE 1/4" X 8" X9 1/2" PLATE-CUT OUT OF 8" BAR STEEL
THREE PCS OF 1/4" SCHEDULE 80 PIPE 25 1/2" LONG
TWO PCS OF 3/16" X 1 1/4 X 1 1/4 ANGLE IRON 24" LONG
3 DOORMAN 7/16 X 20 STUDS 2 1/2" LONG #610-157

SIX 5/16"X 1" STAINLESS STEEL CARRIAGE BOLTS NUTS AND LOCKWASHERS
SIX 5/16 X 1 1/4" STAINLESS STEEL HEX BOLTS NUTS AND LOCKWASHERS.

I TOOK ON ONE END OF THE ANGLE IRON AND SAWSALLED DOWN 1 3/16 OF AN INCH AND HEATED AND BENT TAB TO FORM THE TOMP MOUNT HOLE.

THE SPACING FOR THE HOLES ON THE ANGLE SIDE THE RODS GO ON ARE AS FOLLOWS

FROM TOP 2 3/4" THE NEXT HOLE 5 3/4" FROM TOP THE NEXT HOLE 17 3/4" FROM THE TOP. BOTH ANGLES ARE TO BE THE SAME SO RODS WILL BE EQUAL.

TO BEND THE RODS MEASURE TO CENTER AND MARK 1/2" EITHER SIDE OF CENTER. THIS WILL GIVE AN INCH HEAT TUBE AND BEND IN CENTER. YOU CAN CHECK HOW FAR TO BEND BY HOLDING UP TO THE HOLES IN ANGLE.
WHILE YOU ARE CHECKING THE AMOUNT TO BEND SEE WHICH SIDE YOU WANT TO FLATTEN RODS FOR BOLT HOLES. HEAT AND FLATTEN 1" FOR BOLTS. FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE ON THE 2 REMAINING RODS.

FOR YOUR PLATE FIND AND DRAW A LINE IN CENTER OF THE 9 1/2" LENGTH.DROP DOWN USING THIS LINE 1" AND CENTER PUNCH THIS MARK. THIS WILL BE YOUR TOP STUD HOLE FOR YOUR 7/16" STUDS.

NOW FIND AND MARK 2 LINES ONE ON EITHER SIDE OF CENTER LINE TOTALING 4 3/4" (THIS IS YOUR OTHER 2 STUD HOLES. MARK FROM CENTER LINE DOWN TO 4 3/4 FROM CENTER PUNCH MARK THIS IS YOUR 2ND STUD LEFT SIDE. CENTER PUNCH THIS MARK NOW FROM THIS MARK GO DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM THIS CENTERPUNC AND MARK AND CENTER PUNCH THIS MARK.(MEASURE AND CHECK THIS SEVERAL TIMES THIS HAS TO BE RIGHT) YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE 3 MARKS WITH CENTERPUNCH MARKS.
NOW AFTER VERIFYING 4 3/4" DISTANCE FROM ALL 3 CENTERPUNCH MARKS DRILL HOLE WITH 17/32 DRILL BIT. YOUR STUDS SHOULD JUST TAP IN. NOW WELD STUDS ON BACK SIDE.

THE REST IS DRILLING HOLES IN FLATTENED TUBES FOR BOLTS 3/8" DRILL BIT.

HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE BUILD THIS. NOW THIS IS FOR A 55 1ST SERIES TRUCK . DO YOUR RESEARCH IF ITS A DIFFERENT YEAR.

GOOD LUCK!
