Default Looks like my 56 has a 70's Camaro front end...

Had new tires put on the car and when it was on the hoist I looked it over to perhaps identify any trouble areas. I asked the tech where he thought the front disk brake conversion came from and both he and the shop manager said it looked like a 70's Camaro front end. I did need a new front brake hose and the part number matched up to a Camaro item. One of the PO's had cut the coils springs to lower the car which I'm not liking too much so I'm going to get new ones. Any advice on what springs to get...meaning just a standard rate spring or the heavy duty one? Although I plan on swapping the 305 for a 350 next year I can't see there being that much weight difference. Eventually I'd like to put in a Vintage A/C unit but again that wouldn't add that much to the load. I'd like to get the car up at least two inches from where it's at so any advice would be appreciated.

When you say front end do you mean sub-frame front end or just disk brake front end? Sub frame would have front steer.

When I did disk brakes on my 56 I used 74 Camaro hoses the fit perfect and allowed use of OEM frame mounts. like stated 70-81 Camaros are front steer so they would require a shaft between column and steering box. First gen Camaro rotors fit 55-57 spindles but second gen do not fit.

Post a picture of the frame rails from inside the engine compartments where the a-arms are mounted. It'll be easy to tell.

I have a second gen camaro from clip, I used the Qa1 coil overs built for 2nd gen. They work very well and improve performance a bunch plus the give you ride height adjustability.
