Just sent the 283 and DH heads off to be gone through. I am going to put a Weiand 144 on this engine. I am wondering if i can keep the stock throttle setup....it looks possable ?????? and im not sure how i will keep the kickdown. Lokar has nothing for the cast iron PG. this is kind of a build where i want to keep it functioning looking like original. Outside is stock as well as the interior but under the hood will be a little different..... modern with a stock look where i can.......Has any one any ideas for the kickdown for the tranny. The plate that it pivots on has no where to mount with the new manifold???????
These are good questions. I think it will take a bit of fab / welding
onto the throttle "rod" that currently exists to make it work.
I am also thinking about this as I have a 66' C10 that needs a
baby blower and has "rod" style throttle linkage as well.
My 57' has a Lokar "cable" style throttle and works great with the
144 supercharger. But , I am running a TH350 and not a Glide in
this particular car.
Hope some who have done this can chime in.
I think the throttle rod style will work the throttle lever sticks up high enough i believe. I found a guy here locally that said they could fab me a kick down rod to work with the 144 supercharger. I will post pics when the setup is all installed. He stated that they do that all the time.... will see!!!
