NO PROGRESS TO REPORT GOT THE PIN LOCK PUT ON THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PEDDLE. ORDERED THE COWL PANELS AND FLOOR BOARD FROM LMC.
WAITING FOR THAT TO ARRIVE.

THE WAITING SUCKS. BOUGHT A C25 TANK FOR MY LINCOLN 125 SP PLUS WELDER. I TESTED IT OUT. I'LL BE USING .023 OR ,025 WIRE. I DONT WANT TO CUT ANY THING OUT TILL I HAVE THE PANELS.

HAS ANY ONE HAD TO REMOVE THE LEAD FROM THE TOP OF THE COWL PANELS? MY THOUGHT IS TO GRIND WITH A FINE GRINDING WHEEL AND EXPOSE THE SPOT THAT ITS AT. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THIS PRIOR TO GETTING IN TO IT. FROM WHAT I SEE SO FAR YOU TAKE A BUTANE TORCH AND PUT AS LITTLE ON IT AS YOU NEED TO TO GET IT TO RUN OUT. IT MAY EVEN BE SPOT WELDED IN THIS SAME AREA.

ANYONE THAT HAS DONE THIS PLEASE CHIME IN AND TELL ME ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE . I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE ON THIS.

WELL I GOT INTO THE LEAD. JUST AS I WAS TOLD THE COWL SEAM WAS LEADED IN AND SPOT WELDED. ALTHOUGH NOT EVERYONE WOULD AGREE ON MY METHOD I TOOK A GRINDING WHEEL AND LIGHTLY EXPOSED THE LEADED AREA THEN DROPPED DOWN ABOUT 1/2 INCH AND TOOK MY GRINDER AND CUT THE PANEL AT THAT SPOT. REMOVED ALL THE OTHER SPOT WELDS ON THE PANEL THEN TOOK A TORCH AND SLOWLY HEATED IT TILL THE LEAD STARTED DRIPPING THEN TOOK WIRE BRUSH AND CLEANED THE LEAD OFF. I THEN TOOK THE REMAINING SPOT WELDS ABOUT 6 OR 7 OFF THE SEAM AND I DROPED THE COWL PANEL. BEFORE I PROCEED ANY FARTHER I HAVE TO WAIT TO GET MY FLOOR PATCH ITS DUE IN THURSDAY TOMORROW. I'LL POST A PICTURE WHEN I CAN GET THEM UPLOADED IN MY ALBUM.

THE FLOOR PANELS WERE DELIVERED TODAY SO I STARTED THE FLOOR. THE FLOOR PANELS LOOK LIKE THE WILL FIT NICE. THE ONE THING I DIDNT CARE FOR WAS THAT THE LITTLE FELT BRACKETS THAT HOLD THE FELT SEAL FOR THE GAS PEDAL,THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PETALS WAS NOT ON THE PANELS. I HAD TO REMOVE THOSE AND REINSTALL ON THE NEW PANEL.

FORTUNATELY THE DRIVER SIDE WAS THE ONLY SIDE THAT HAD THOSE. I DONT KNOW IF ANYBODY SELLS THOSE BUT WHAT A PITA THAT WAS TO REMOVE THEM. THEN NEEDED CLEANED UP AFTER I GOT THEM OFF.

NOTE TO ANY ONE DOING THIS I VERY CAREFULLY MEASURED EACH LOCATION OF THESE SO AS TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE INSTALLED IN CORRECT SPOT.

ALSO BR FOREWARNED THAT ALL THE HOLES ARE NOT DRILLED IN THE PANEL. WHAT I DID WAS CUT THE SECTION OUT AND USED IT AS A TEMPLET . THERE WERE ABOUT 8 HOLES ALTOGETHER THAT NEEDED DRILLED.

IM DOING 1 SIDE AT A TIME SO NOW TO MAKE THE FINAL CUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR AND PARTIAL TOE BOARD . I INTEND TO PAINT THE FRONT CAP SUPPORT AND HINGE POST ON THE INSIDE WITH POR 15 . I WON'T BE ABLE TO GET PAINT ON IT WITH THE COWL INNER AND OUTER PANELS ON. SO EVEN THOUGH IT WILL COST ME A DAY I THINK ITS WORTH THE EFFORT.
