Default Making my own door panels have some questions

I am giving it a shot making my own panels and I have a few questions for anyone who can help.
thanks for any advice!
Charlie
First, how would you attach the insert to the panel? I thought gluing and maybe hitting it with some short staples from the back.

I used a 1/8" Birch panel for my door panels

Should I cover my arm rest in the dark or light color vinyl? I have no interior design skills!

JMO ,dark or light color vinyl? I would have to see the rest of the interior ,to know if it should blend or contrast ,also I would glue the trim piece down and when covered, mount the arm rest from the back which will also help keep the trim piece in place ,I think they look very nice and your doing a good job , and keep posting pics ,,

3M use to make a spray upholstery adhesive that was good.Do both pieces, line them up,and press down.Get it right the first time, cant be shifted once touched.I would still do the staples as long as the wood wont split.Practice on some scrap first.

What I see looks great.

I have had problems with any aerosol spray glue as it will release with heat.
Learned the hard way with the $19.00 / can orange 3M foam fast glue.

Looked awesome till we brought the car to Washington and the 100* heat released the glue.

Upholstery shop said to use the landau top and trim spray glue made by weldwood/ DAP. We buy it in 5 gal pails and spray out with an old siphon feed spray gun. Once done, just hang gun on wall and walk away. 6 months later, plug in and pull trigger. No plugging up tip. This product will not release with heat.

We have used Velcro strips to hold recess panels in place.

Will the armrest be screwed thru this panel into the sheet metal?

seeing how your panels are wood they make the screw inserts that you install into the wood then install a screw in the back side that way you could take apart when necessary.
