As far as the install of a standard passenger car tank goes, it is not difficult to do. Just remove the old floor and build a new one and build a way to mount the tank. You could even go so far as to locate the end brackets that are welded to the floor that center the tank front to back.

The problem comes when you try to use your wagon fill tube. The location of the inlet for the wagon tank is further forward from the location of the inlet for the standard non wagon. The side wall of the body is also different. So you may have to adapt some non wagon parts and maybe even use a section of gas stable rubber tubing to connect parts.

I did this swap on my '57 Handyman, you will have to weld in a crossmember (I used 1"square tubing) to support the eye hooks for the front of the tank straps and another bracket to attach the rear of the straps to. Yogi's/Tanks has the straps & hangers, they also have a filler hose w/ 90 degree bend that is long enough to connect your filler pipe. You'll have to cut the bend out of your old pipe & weld a bracket onto the section that enters the tank to support that section.

Here's my 55 Nomad. Basically it is the same except the back seat. It is an entire cargo floor frame since I was making mini tubs and the rear inner quarter to gate panels. Not to leave out the entire floor from the toe board panels back. Everything in the cargo area from the rear seat to the gate is owner made. The third photo is underside of the second cross brace from the front where the tank strap end "T" attach into a reinforcement plate with "T" slot. The third cross brace rests on the factory floor supports/gate threshold braces. My tank is moved toward the rear and centered side-to-side to create lots of room for exhaust to go over the axle. I used a'56 passenger tank with the breather/vent tube. Not shown, the battery is behind the passenger side wheel tub.
