Default New Detent Bracket

Pops mentioned a new detent bracket for column shifting TH350's, etc., aways down in this thread:
https://www.trifive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=168885

I tried the bracket on my shortened OE column (shortened using Ecklers kit), and found it needs some adjusting. The following image shows the installed bracket:

The 90 degree bend in the bracket hits the edge of the shift arm before it can rotate through the full range of motion needed to hit all gears, so I will have to grind off that part of the detent bracket. Not quite sure why they designed the bracket to have the 90 degree bend.
Regards, Doug

Doesn't that provide another detent for drive so you have to lift the lever again to drop lower than drive.

Hi Don,
That may well be, but I'm not understanding why that would be a very good thing? I wish there was a reverse lockout, instead.
Thanks, Doug

Pops, I think the 2358A detent bracket you show is for the 55-56 TriFives. Following is what you previously posted for the 57's, which is what I installed on my 57.

I don't see the value of the bend on the 57 detent bracket. I agree with Don, that it could serve as a lockout to the lower drive gears, but I am not seeing that as something desirable. Maybe someone will set me straight before I grind it off? The tech guy from Danchuk didn't see the value of me retaining it, and advised I grind it off. Ideas?
Thanks, Doug

My bad Doug....Should have realized by your avatar that we were talking about a 1957....Now, I have to wonder why the difference between the two.

The other detent for Turboglides looks like this:

Pops,
And to me, those ones are so bulky that they seem worthless on a shortened OE column. Already so tight on fitting in the rag joint, narrow detent bracket, column shift, column, and 500 steering box.
Thanks, Doug

Agree...Not to mention that they are over priced.
