PS. It will be obvious that the VC's are clear coated, even if they don't yellow...
The owner told me these valve covers are original vintage '66 and they both had a decal on them that said 350 horsepower. The decal looked real old and peeled off/crumbled easily with a razor blade. On the one end, there was also
a decal with the letter T. I ordered decals that say 250 horsepower. Black and gold. My motor, when done, should be around this much; maybe a little more. This is something, I would have done in '66 and I didn't want to get too crazy with numbers. I could have sworn that I've seen decals on Corvette valve covers before announcing different horsepowers.

Yeah, I don't know, I'm still up in the air about clear coating them. As mentioned previously, I'll clean then again and then see where I'm at. The decals will be here in a week, so I have some time, Carmine.

My comments were due to thinking you were 'building' a '56 265 'Corvette engine' (or simulating one)...

I appreciate any and all constructive and informative comments. That's how I learn. Basically, I'm building a '57 265 with parts and procedures that would have been available up to and including '66. Yeah David, I like the horsepower decals on them. Breaks things up. A nice contrast, Carmine.

I cleaned the valve covers a second time with Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish, and they looked real good. I decided not to paint them. The 250 horsepower decals also came in and I put them on. For their age, they look very nice. I'll try to post a pic of them, Carmine.
