The 195 is the Danchuk House Brand part. It includes our upgraded float and our upgraded gasket. 16696 is a part marketed by another vendor.

Now you sparked my curiosity. What kind of float? Plastic or better brass? And I'm guessing a cork gasket?

BRASS!!!
Don't get the plastic, you'll replace it sometime. Mine lasted only a few months. One thing I learned, if you do get plastic, when it goes bad, you can go to a Ford dealer and get a brass one from an early Mustang and it fits perfect. I think the alcohol in gas these days ruins plastic.

Now that we know what the difference in the two fuel senders is, you should always get the "best" one.

There's probably hundreds of posts on this forum about fuel sender gaskets and floats. At one point the response of this forum convinced Bill to offer the upgraded gasket and float as a single part number. GET IT!

As for plastic being contaminated by ethanol fuel, it depends on the plastic used. It's not a blanket thing.

As for the brass, the cheap Chinese floats are very thin brass and are poorly soldered.

So either brass or plastic works when done right, and neither work when done wrong.

Of course "best". Luckily I learned that lesson on some small dollar items.

I'm pretty sure if they use the right plastic it will outlive the best brass float. Ethanol + Water = Corrosion.

Funny thing not really related but kind of, people swear by non ethanol gas, then they add a couple bottles of fuel line antifreeze. Ah, that would be a couple bottles of ... ETHANOL!

We were having problems with the supplied brass failing our customers, so we made a better one. Cork w/ rubber on the gasket. Same reason. Lots of complaints about the rubber one...so we made a better one.

Correct. The float that comes with the sender is not near as beefy as the one we made to replace them.
