Hey everyone was wondering if someone knows what the liftgate gaps should be for a 57 2 door 210 wagon am having issues trying to get the lift gate to fit. the problem seems to be the corners of the weather striping gor the liftgate and tailgate hit each other and is preventing closure thanks for any info and maybe a pic or two
If the weatherstripping is new, you are going to have to find a friend to push in on the liftgate hard and then shut the tailgate. Once it is shut, leave if for a few days and it will start to fit together better.
I just installed my lift/tailgate last week. I ran a heat gun the around stripping to bring up the temperature a bit, sprayed on some silicone spray and got it shut.
When you shut it the first few times, leave the latch plates out a little so the latches don't get in too much of a tight situation. After the stripping gets a little more conformed, you can adjust things tighter until the gate closes with the right body line.
You might have to push in on the tailgate to get it to unlatch the first few times, after the few days to get it open. Don't dent your tailgate pushing on it.
