Default 72 Chevelle A/C Compressor Wiring - Need Help?

The ac compressor in my chevelle failed. Years ago I had a 70 chevelle wagon that I crashed so I pulled off lots of parts that were good and working (including all the ac parts). Today I went to install it and my original 72 compressor has a wire connection in the back where the hoses bolt onto the compressor. The 70 compressor does not have this?
I知 guessing this wire is a thermal cycling control that is fed from the main harness. I知 also guessing that the 70 chevelle used a relay somewhere before the compressor clutch.
Anyone here know if what I知 thinking is true?

Not positive but I believe the connection at the rear of the compressor is a high temperature switch it was connected to a thermo limiter fuse that opened when the compressor overheated it痴 not for pressure cycling I think if you connect your current wiring connector to the clutch it will work fine without the high temp switch connector there wasn稚 any major differences internal in the a6 compressors between those years that I remember someone else might know different

This is correct, just install the wires to the clutch coil and your compressor will work fine..
