Default I might actually get this running soon (lots of pics!)

Just a quick note about the progress on my car if anyone is interested-

The engine was in, then out, then in again... done this a few times to check and re-check alignment and fit of the engine, trans, added clutch linkage, etc.

I brought the car over to a buddies house that does drag car chassis and such. He did a bunch of welding for me, added a drive shaft loop, fully boxed in the engine mounts, adjusted the trans mounts. We decided to raise the trans a bit. This rotated the engine a hair and provided some needed clearance for the fenderwell headers.

Also added disc brakes, dual master cylinder and line lock, larger fuel line, reconditioned the gas tank, new wheels and wide whites... I painted the wheels a few times because matching the paint turned out to be a real pain. I'm close now, once the baby moons are on the car I don't think the slight color difference will be visible.

There's still tons of work to go. I've got new front springs, spring spacers and ball joint spacers waiting for installation. The GM Hot Cam is on the way, as well as 1.6 alluminum roller rockers too.

Then comes the electrical. ugh.

Man, that looks awesome!

I gotta ask, what size wheels/tires are on the back? Are they Cokers? It looks like they fill up the wheel wells real nice. Thats the look I want to copy for mine Did you go with the short tires on the front for header clearance? That dark shade of red really works too Your gonna love that trans!

The tires are BF Goodrich Silvertowns distributed by Coker. I'm lucky enough to have the Southwest distributor for Coker about a mile and a half from where I live. I made the decision to use the Silvertowns because most other tires like that are re-caps. I plan to drive the car a lot and drag race it too. The temps here in AZ are brutal on tires. I just wasn't comfortable with the thought of re-caps.

The rear tires are 255-70 15's on a 15X7 chevy steel wheel. It's a good fit once you get them on the car with about 1-2 inches of clearance in every direction. The problem is that I had to let the air out of the tires and wedge/wrestle them past the fender to get them on. As it is now, if I got a flat on the side of the road I'm not sure I could change the tire. I plan to lower the upper shock mounts an inch or two. I hope this will let the rear end drop a bit more when the car is jacked up by the frame. Did I explain that well enough? If lowering the shock mount doesn't work, then when I step up to a 9 inch Ford rear end I'll have to go an inch narrower on each side and then alter the backspacing on my wheels.

The fronts are 185 65 15's on the stock 15X5 chevy wheels. I'm not 100% sure the fronts are going to stay on. It's how I want the car to look but I am worried about how rough the front will ride with the small sidewall. Yeah, the fenderwell headers did have something to do with that choice. Although after I raise the front end 2-3 inches I'm pretty sure I could run any tire I want.
