Talking Update...

Sloshed thru the mud, mosquitoes, and varmints, and found 2 that are coded as 3.73 limited slip. Picking them up in the AM. $250 each, loaded in my truck. Includes the d/s. sway bar, park brake cables, and u joint bolts.
Done in time for lunch, and a sweet tea!
The pressure washer is next, including my truck!

I sleeved the inside of the tubes where the welds were, nothing could get inside. Just thoroughly washed everything after the saw cutting was done. Only swapped the two ends, not entire tubes.
Also, I welded the tubes to the center section, as Ford just had a couple plug welds there.
On the one I did, I was able to borrow a Rigid brand plumbers pipe cutter. Think tubing cutter on steroids. It made a perfectly straight cut & left a beveled edge for welding. No saw filings.

It took a bit of effort to set up the bandsaw, and jig the housing, so it was as perfect as possible. Wasn't too concerned about sawdust, because I cut before final descaling and sand blasting.
I finished all cuts with a hand file, then cleaned inside and out. The saw kerf allowed for easy setup, before welding, and allowed total penetration around the circumference.
I could see the heat marks through the sleeve, which was 1/4" thick (stop sign post) worked perfectly.

Angry NOT HAPPY!

A cautionary tale....
It appears that the posi and ratio info posted, continues into the independent axle ID list.
Got stupid, and allowed someone to "look and advise". He id off of the door, and I ended up w/ 1 3.73 posi, strait axle, and one independent, that was not out, when I got there.
The yard owner refunded the price of 1, and the take out guy got my $100.
Of course, he was no where to be found, when it came time to cough up the 50.

Moral of the story, do it yourself.

Well, Old Buzzard, that sucks!
I got mine, after seeing it in a 2001 SportTrac. It had a 4.10 posi tag on it, but when I opened it up (on the veh.) it had been replaced with an open chunk. The ring and pinion were brand new, and 4.10, so I negotiated a lower price on the unit, which allowed me to order a brand new TracLoc from Ford Motorsports. ($249.) Donor axle, all new posi, R&P, axle and diff. bearings, seals, wheels studs, came to under $600.
