Trying to find out what's in my 57. It's a mild build 350 from somewhere in the 77-80 something year range. With engine in car it's difficult to get an exact on the numbers (rear of block, driver's side) because of crud/deterioration. I've gone to 3 or 4 different casting sites and only one (thedirtforum) has come close to what I think I have:
14316379 86 - 88 350 205 & up 2&4-Bolt mains
1 piece rear main seal
Best read I can get off mine is 143xx37x, 14344377, 1434677, or the last two of 79. Make any sense?
If at least the 143xxxxx is correct is it likely that the engine is some sort of GM from 86-88? Thanks, Mike
OK. Can't swear to the 143xxxxx. Tried aluminum foil imprint, modeling clay--just won't come out. It also has a bigger "39GM" next to it.
It COULD ?? be:
14016379...350...77-79...2 or 4
which is closer to what I was told, 79 Caprice donor, several years go when I bought the car. This donor info is also what I've tried to use to determine the Delco-Moraine front discs calipers. no luck there with numbers either.
Are there any other corroborating numbers to narrow it down?
It's amazing what happens to the #'s when you clean the grease off. It is 3970010. oooops
