Default What's the schedule for Thursday?

So I just confirmed my hotel reservation but haven't made my flight plans yet. I wanted to know if I'm really going to miss anything if I don't get into until Thursday early afternoon as opposed to Wednesday night.

Thanks everyone in advance!

Ryan;

Last year there was a really tremendous display in the Heritage center of some beautiful restored and unusual trifives. A couple of real dual quad cars, restored cars of various flavors, and the real highlight was the display of El Morocco cars. One or two of them were just out of restoration. It was unbelievable. I am fairly certain when I say there is virtually no chance of seeing that many El Moroccos in one spot, along with all of the memorabilia and display of spare parts for those cars, ever again. It was a really great display and how Sondles was able to locate that many of them and have them at the show is beyond me.

This year, I understand he is assembling a display of custom cars, you know, the kind that were popular in the late 50s and early 60s. I had the pleasure of parking next to a fella at the first nationals, Merv Englert. He had a 56 chevy convertible that he bought brand new and began to customize as soon as he got it. Sold the car in 62, located it in 72, took him 30 years to get it back, then rebuilt the car. You could hardly tell it was a 56 but it was gorgeous. I did not see him at the 16, 17 or 18, but I understand Sondles reached out and he is bringing his car for this year's display in the Heritage Center.

There is also a model car display at the Heritage center, usually some form of musical entertainment in the parking lot, and then the parking lot scene for Thursday is usually pretty good, one of my favorites.

Also, I think there is enough interest in a trifive.com meet and greet that I think we will meet at 4 pm to shake hands, say hello, see old friends, make new ones, put faces to the names. Not sure of where at the host hotel yet, parking lot at seetheusa's wagon or some other place (which is right at the Heritage Center).

Finally, I believe there is trifive drag racing under the lights at beech bend for those who cant get enough racing. I am probably going to hang in the parking lot Thursday night. The truth is I have made quite a few friends here and at the show and its really the only time I get to see a lot of them so I will stick around the parking lot Thursday night. Life is short and I don't want to miss anyone. Crossing paths at the show can be challenging with all the stuff to see and do.

That is what I think is going on Thursday.

Default Meet & greet

I think some people may think the "Meet & Greet" being discussed on this site is part of the official program. As far as I know it is not. It is just a bunch of the frequent posters getting together informally to match faces with names and renew old acquaintances. All are welcome,

Having been to every Tri-Five Nat so far, and going again this year, I highly recommend getting there Wednesday evening if at all possible. There are SO many cars to see and so much going on I just don't think you can see it all on Friday & Saturday. The show in the host hotel parking lot is awesome all by itself, and the displays inside always worth taking in. Not to mention the hundreds of fellow Tri-Fivers you can shoot the breeze with! The meet and greet is also great and quite informal. Nice to put faces to the people posting on here. Dave

Yeah a few reasons why I don't bring my car and fly, I'll list them for you:

1. I don't drive my Chevy on the highway (person choice and I think it would make an assume pole question)

2. I would have to take a lot more days off work.

3. When I'm at the show my number one priority is taking photos of everyone else's Tri five Chevys. I get there as early as possible, I get dropped off, and I stand at the gate and shoot photos of every Chevy coming in for hours. Even if ATFA didn't use my photos in their publications I'd still be out there doing this. It's a deep passion. It's how enjoy a car show.

With all that in mind, unfortunately, my Chevy would just get in the way of my enjoyment.

I know, if everyone acted like me there wouldn't be any cars.

Anyway.......

I decided to fly in early-ish on Thursday. For me, the key is being there when all the cars displayed in the event center exit. Hoods down and not so many people in the way. A few of the photos I took then last year made it in the yearly review book!!!

So I got everything booked and now counting down the days!!!! See you all there.
