Default ** Can a stock disc be run with a CenterForce Dual Friction 10.4" setup?

My Centerforce Dual Friction clutch disc is paper thin on the segmented puck side. The other full circle side is nearly into the rivets.

Time for a new disc. Don't really need a wild clutch setup anymore. Can I substitute a stock disc for the fancy racy DF383271 disc?

I see no real reason why not, other than not having the super-grippy material that CenterForce uses.

Am I missing some other reason this would be a bad idea?

I do not see why not...

Mechanically you are squeezing the disc between two pieces of steel.
If you do, please report back and let us know how it went.
(Sorry if this is not the encouragement you wanted) .

Depends on where you get your clutch. Off shore junk with questionable friction materials, name brand with potentially better materials, NOS with the asbestos based friction materials.

As an alternative, have the existing plate rebuilt by USA rebuilder using quality materials. H&R Clutch in Bensalem PA is still in business.

They rebuilt my decades old Scheiffer clutch and pressure plate three years ago. I told them what I wanted to do with the car (drive it on the street and a very occasionally drive it down a dragstrip) and they rebuilt both units as good as new. They were terrific to deal with.

I've had several customers over the years use rebuilt clutches (a couple by H&R).
Make sure the diameter is correct for your application.
If you want an aftermarket branded piece, you could always try Billy at McLeod, he'd probably give you the P/N for the disc only.
Jody from Jody's Trans here on the forum has great prices on clutches if you decided to buy a 'kit'

Check your pilot bushing while you're in there, if its out of round; replace it with a non-magnetic one.

If anyone is interested in a little aftermarket history, when George Hurst bought scheiffer and moved the operation to glenside pa, HR built all the scheiffer clutches and pressure plates for hurst. The son now owns and operates the business, great to work with.
